Professional whitening uses a peroxide gel to lighten the colour inside the enamel. Done under supervision it is safe for teeth; the key is checking first that whitening is right for you. It doesn’t change the colour of crowns or fillings.
You might need this if…
- Yellowing with age
- Tea, coffee or tobacco stains
- A wedding or big event coming up
- Wanting a fresher smile before other cosmetic work

Whitening
In-clinic whitening in one session, or custom trays to use at home over a couple of weeks, or both.
Afterwards
- Avoid strongly coloured food and drink (tea, coffee, turmeric curries) for 48 hours.
- Sensitivity usually settles within a few days; a sensitivity toothpaste helps.
- Occasional top-ups keep the result.
Questions patients ask

No. Whitening only works on natural teeth. Visible fillings or crowns may need replacing afterwards to match.
It varies. Yellow-toned stains usually respond well; grey or internal stains respond less and may be better treated with veneers or bonding.
